Once again this year, Les Canalous are heading into the future with the creation of the very first model of the electric fleet : LaPéniche S .

100% electric and at the cutting edge of innovation, this new model has been designed to respond to the challenges of the 21st century. Quiet and non-polluting, LaPéniche S fully fits in a logic of sustainable eco-aware tourism.

With its traditional line, LaPéniche S will blend in perfectly with countryside landscapes. Its large patio door and its sun roof offer an incredible luminosity on board and a unique point of view of the surrounding nature. LaPéniche S have 5 spacious cabins : every single one of them has shore power and 2 USB plugs, along with 4 spacious bathrooms and 4 WCs. This model can easily welcome a large group on board or a maximum of 5 couples. This boat has solar panels that will compensate for the energy consumption of the 2 refrigerators.

Where can you cruise aboard LaPéniche S ?

LaPéniche S is available in Alsace-Loraine, at the departure bases of both Waltenheim-sur-Zorn and Languimberg (with the possibility of one-way or round trips A great opportunity to discover the colours and flavours of the region!

Driving the boat

Like all the boats of the Canalous fleet, LaPéniche S is a licence-free boat. Its hybrid cockpit and its sun-roof, similar to LaPéniche P,introduced in 2018, offer a complete comfort to the pilot : it is possible to steer the ship from both indoors or outdoors, without having to change places. The large patio door that slides with the electric roof allows a direct access to the catwalk : It is now possible to control your maneuver while keeping a hand on the helm to correct your trajectory.

An electric boat : How does it work ?

A 100% electric boat is a new concept that allows at least 6 hours, or one full day, of autonomy. Thanks to 10 fast charging stations installed by VNF, it will be possible to charge your battery in 2 or 3 hours maximum : so your journey won’t be impacted, this charge can be done during a lunch break or a walk as well as during a shopping trip or a visit...etc. Therefore, you could, for example, moor during the night in the middle of the countryside, the batteries will have been charged enough to ensure the electric autonomy needed for your evening or night on board.

The use of these stations is exclusively reserved for electric boats. Priority access will be provided to the crew of LaPéniche S who, will also appreciate the ease of use of these stations via their touch screen (different languages available, French, English, German and Spanish).

A more «classic» recharging in the ports along your way will also be possible. For example, this would be suitable for charging batteries overnight.

A mandatory daily recharge package of 45 €, ensuring a priority access to fast charging stations, will be invoiced at booking. Upon connection to these fast charging stations, no other supplement will be charged. (The daily recharge package does not include the night in the port, or the connection to classic charging stations).

It should be noted that LaPéniche S also has a generator in order to increase the autonomy of the boat or for more comfort and the use of the 220v power on board. Its use is optional and will be charged 9€ per hour.
